A little about the breed....

The Swedish Vallhund is an ancient breed dating back over 1000 years to the Viking era where they were developed as a small herder and watch dog. They are smart, sociable, fun energetic breed with a large personality in a small body, known for their zest for life and cheerful demeanor.

Swedish Vallhunds with their sturdy construction and easy care coat make exceptional companions, thriving in various roles, from loyal family pets, dedicated service dogs, athletic sports dogs, and prestigious show, as comfortable in suburbia as they were on the prow of Viking longships 1,200 years ago.

A little about us... At Vanaheim we have been owned and loved for 23 years by this amazing Viking Voyager. The breed in itself is still considered on the endangered breed list in parts of the world and as such, we strive hard as preservation breeders to maintain its characteristics while caretaking the lines that have been entrusted to us for future generations to enjoy. Our litters are carefully planned and bred, with our Vallhund family excelling in all walks of life, from companions, award winning show dogs & working on farms. We prioritize health and temperament incorporating NZ lines with fully health tested lines imported from, Sweden, Finland, America, Australia and the UK. Our puppies go to their new homes
